“Walk With Care Upon The Earth” This work was undertaken by the wonderful children of Kids Plus GFS at the Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit at Kanwal in preparation for World Environment Day, 2007. Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about how God gave humans the responsibility of caring for this beautiful creation, that He said was good when He had made it. We learnt many ways that we as children and our families can do just that right here in our local environment. While caring for the environment is also a global issue, we personalized our local responsibility by including symbols of our 3 Tuggerah Lakes and our beaches. We chose to copy the indigenous style of painting to respect their earliest caretaking of our region. The dots also represent the many people that make up our community. We think that care of the environment includes the care of our water, land and atmosphere. We recognize the value of using solar energy, symbolized in the sun. We included 3 symbols to represent the fauna (animals). Can you find the autumn leaf to represent the flora (plants)? This leaf also represents change in our environment. Can you find the symbol central to our lives that represents Jesus’ Way? What about the hands of Father God reaching out to us with His goodness? Can you find the symbol of the Holy Spirit resting in His peace upon us? They speak of God Who is with us. What about the symbol in the painting of our hand reaching back to God full of our offering of ourselves to Him? Have fun finding them all!
